Pavement Materials Group is the proprietary owner and developer of Labor Intensive Surfacing Asphalt, HPC Premix. The Premix Asphalt Tar in a bag was designed by the Pavement Materials Group in response to a need for sustainable, highest quality premix asphalt that can be manufactured with minimal machinery on site and storable for extended periods whilst meeting the requirements of South African TRH-8 road Specifications.

On Site Production of Labor Based Asphalt.

Pavement Materials Group offers project site support for contractors and engineering companies planning to manufacture premix asphalt on site, either for immediate usage or stockpiling for future use.
Our Labor Based Asphalt was designed for on-site or off-site production using conventional concrete mixers or hand mixing using our Asphalt Filler, Bitumen Emulsion and Selected Aggregates. Selected aggregates can be sourced locally, reducing transportation costs and supporting local quarries. Designed to support employment creation, Pavement Materials Group assist.

Onsite Preparation & Usage Procedure

ONSITE HPC CARBON ASPHALT PREPARATION

  • Mix the required quantity of HPC Carbon filler, crusher-sand and road stone.
  • Add the required quantity of bituminous emulsion Binder and mix thoroughly.

HPC ASPHALT APPLICATION

  • Ensure that the base layer is well compacted to the required density and is swept free of loose material.
  • Lightly water the base sweeping off any free standing water immediately (no prime is required).
  • Place the prepared HPC Cold Asphalt mix at regular intervals and level to the required loose thickness.
  • Lightly water the levelled mix.
  • Compact using a roller with 4 - 6 passes (water the drums to assist with sticking of material).
  • Apply additional water if required during compaction. Once the surface becomes saturated with a brown liquid, sufficient water and compaction has been applied.
